Damwatch Engineering Ltd has an opportunity for a Principal / Senior Dam Engineer for a full-time role based in Wellington or Christchurch, New Zealand.

Damwatch is a specialised engineering consultancy - we focus on dams and their associated structures, providing design and construction supervision, strategic engineering and dam safety services for maintaining and developing dam infrastructure in New Zealand and overseas. Due to increased workload we are seeking an experienced Principal / Senior Dam Engineer to support these projects.

Damwatch Engineering Ltd is highly regarded internationally for:

  • Smart engineering solutions for dam design and remediation
  • Seismic engineering for dams
  • Peer review, expert advice and comprehensive dam safety reviews
  • Applying dam safety principles to all aspects of dam design and operation
  • Adapting dam safety and risk management for unique situations
  • Customised dam safety training

Ideally you will have the following attributes:

  • Hold an engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years' of dam engineering experience
  • Experience in water supply, hydropower, or irrigation scheme development including investigation, design phases and construction supervision
  • Demonstrated civil engineering experience associated with design and construction of dams, bridges and / or heavy civil engineering
  • Demonstrated understanding of dam engineering for principles for dam design and remediation
  • Demonstrated capability for analysis, problem solving and innovation
  • Ability to achieve tight deadlines in a pressurised environment
  • A track record of delivering practical, buildable solutions
  • Demonstrated understanding of dam safety and risk management principles
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • An ability to see the big picture.
  • Enthusiasm to work to work alongside and support a group of professional engineers working on challenging dam projects in a team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proven project management and leadership skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel overseas and within New Zealand as required to meet our commitments to clients
