Damwatch Engineering is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer for a full time role based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Apply your broad civil knowledge in engineering to water and renewable energy projects, including new and remedial dam projects for hydropower, water supply and irrigation.

The role:

  • Work on a variety of dam types both existing and new. Manage and deliver a range of services from dam safety investigations and analysis through feasibility studies, design and construction of dams, canals and associated structures.
  • The responsibility to lead project teams developing robust technical solutions to meet client requirements and on-time project delivery.
  • The opportunity to lead, mentor and develop staff and the services we offer.
  • Entrusted to represent the business to our clients, promote and develop the Damwatch culture.

What you bring:

  • Hold a Civil Engineering degree, with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience.
  • Experienced in dam engineering and heavy civil engineering including geotechnical, hydraulics, structural and general civil.
  • Excellent communication and client liaison skills.
  • Interested to take on increasing responsibility for client relationships.
  • Interested to develop skills in dam engineering and dam safety.
  • Leadership and management of projects and service delivery.

What you will do:

  • Lead civil projects through design, consenting stages, construction supervision and delivery.
  • Deliver preparation of specifications, cost estimates and reporting.
  • Provide general civil engineering technical advice.
  • Be main point of contact for nominated Damwatch clients as required.
  • Responsible for development of client base, services and delivery of wind and sustainable energy projects.
  • Provide support with Damwatch service delivery including: asset management, contract management and project management.
  • Travel overseas and within New Zealand as required by Damwatch work commitments.

Damwatch Engineering is currently seeking a Senior / Principal Civil Engineer (Water Resources) for a full time role based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Damwatch seeks an experienced Dam Engineer (Water Resources) with a track record in dams and hydraulic structures, water resources, dam safety and civil engineering projects, preferably in a seismic environment. For this senior role, you will need to have at least 10 years' experience.

Our New Zealand and overseas client base includes the hydropower, irrigation and water supply sectors.

The role:

  • Work on a range of dam types and associated structures in active environments across all phases of the asset lifecycle.
  • Be challenged to address client issues with pragmatic and practical solutions in New Zealand and overseas.
  • You will represent the business to our clients, suppliers and partners with responsibility and accountability for the delivery of high quality output in line with our overall ethos of customer first.

What you bring:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • A track record of hydraulic analysis, design and construction.
  • Proven teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated capability for analysis, problem solving and innovation.
  • A track record of effective client relationship management.
  • A tertiary civil engineering qualification.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hydraulic engineering experience with demonstrable dam engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment and dam safety practices.

Damwatch has an opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Instrumentation Specialist to work on developing dam safety instrumentation solutions for our clients throughout New Zealand and overseas. You will get involved or lead project phases from concept and detailed design to implementation, maintenance and refurbishment.

Damwatch is a specialised engineering consultancy - we focus on dams and their associated structures.

The role

Candidates should demonstrate an ability to deliver quality results and be prepared to work both on site and in the office. As the Instrumentation Specialist you will have an appreciation of the relationship between instrumentation design and dam safety monitoring, you will be involved and/or lead the investigation, design, procurement, configuration, installation, commissioning, maintenance, diagnostics, decommissioning and remediation of:

  • A range of geotechnical instruments e.g. piezometers, inclinometers, flow and temperature sensors etc.
  • Deformation instruments .
  • Data capture, communication and storage systems, networks and protocols.

What you bring:

  • Hold tertiary level education preferably in science or geophysics, with a minimum of 10 years' relevant experience.
  • Ideally you will be able to demonstrate some experience on dam and/or large civil works projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the practical application of data capture, processing and analysis tools and systems.
  • Excellent communication, report writing and client liaison skills.
  • Experienced leadership and management of projects and service delivery.
