Are you looking for new challenges, more responsibility? Damwatch has an opportunity for an experienced Civil / Structural Draftsperson for a full time role based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Damwatch is a specialised engineering consultancy - we focus on dams and hydraulic structures, providing strategic engineering and dam safety services for maintaining and developing dam infrastructure in New Zealand and overseas. Due to increased workload we are seeking an experienced CAD draftsperson to support these projects.

The role:

  • Help support a team of Civil, Structural, and Geotechnical engineers.
  • Help support the CAD workflows that produce and control engineering drawings within the organisation and CAD team.
  • Play a key role in maintaining 3D modelling capabilities for Civil and Structural infrastructure.

Ideally you will have:

  • 10 years' experience in civil engineering projects particularly related to dams, canals, bridges and heavy civil engineering works.
  • Strong proficiency in using AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Proficiency in preparation and management of construction drawings and sketches.
  • Competence in developing 3D CAD models.
  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • Interest in developing your programming skills in writing and maintaining code and routines (AutoLISP) for efficient use of AutoCAD.
  • Interest in developing your skills in 3D visualisation, GIS and BIM enabled packages.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognised technical qualification in civil engineering / drafting or equivalent.

Damwatch Engineering has an opportunity for an experienced Intermediate / Senior Structural Engineer for a full-time role based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Damwatch seeks a structural engineer who has experience in aspects of structural and/or civil engineering associated with the structures associated with dams. You will be providing strategic engineering and dam safety services for maintaining and developing dam infrastructure in New Zealand and overseas. Skills may be transferable from other areas of civil engineering that provide innovative thinking and solutions for these unique structures.

  • Seismic engineering for dams
  • Peer review, expert advice and comprehensive dam safety reviews
  • Applying dam safety principles to all aspects of dam design and operation

What we are looking for from you:

  • Hold an engineering degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years in structural and civil engineering associated with dams, bridges and / or heavy civil engineering
  • Demonstrated capability for analysis, problem solving and innovation
  • The skills to review / contribute to FEA and frame type models - Damwatch uses SAP2000, CADAM and ANSYS LS-Dyna
  • The ability to interact with other design streams including geotechnical, hydraulic design and general civil engineering
  • Demonstrated understanding of seismic design experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to support Damwatch develop and diversify our service offering in structural engineering
  • Willingness to travel overseas and within New Zealand as required to meet our commitments to clients
